 Week 4

Well, here we are, 4 weeks in. I have been pleasantly surprised that it has gone as smoothly as it has. I think they have had fun and I know I have. It is exhausting but very rewarding and I am learning so much along with them. We should've left for a week at the beach on Sunday, but hurricane Sally had other plans so we are hoping to leave maybe Thursday and make a good, long weekend out of it. I had planned a lot of  "beach school' for the week, but since we aren't there, I didn't want to make it any sadder by studying all of our favorite things, so this week has been a tiny bit impromptu. Today, we worked on a nice acrostic poem about September and watercolored it. Alice began an online piano class and we did lots of watercolor. We also dissected some seeds and learned about cotyledons, monocots and dicots...so much better to get our hands on things!!! And, can't forget that today was Poetry Teatime...one of our very favorite days every week. Here are some pictures of the things we worked on today and all of our teatimes:)

Endless Summer

Lots on my mind these days.  So, I felt like writing would be good for the soul.   I'm at a point that I wish I could make time stop and be forever in the middle of Summer, an endless summer. Not that I hate spring and fall...I can see the benefit and necessity of winter as well...Ive been there many times, in fact...it has its value.  But summer...how I wish for an endless summer. Wind in my hair, sun on my face, chickens talking, zinnias bursting with unique personality, hummingbirds swarming, gentle breeze, sweat dripping, hot, mowing, singing to the top of my lungs in to the wind and anyone in earshot but I don't care, because I feel so free...on the porch, admiring God's artistry in the sunset He has painted just for me. Can you believe He does this...for us??  He's so good. These are just a few of the things that I love. Stones of Remembrance

 Charlie heads to Samford this Friday, and tonight, he was asked to speak and share his testimony as one of 3 men this Wednesday night at (big) church.  He was excited and couldn't wait to share. I don't understand this excitement but it makes me happy that he got this trait from his dad. God has been moving this year in ways I can't explain but know, without a doubt, it is Him. He answered our prayers about a college roomate "exceedingly abundantly more than we could've asked or imagined." He brought Charlie & Zak together and we trust He has a purpose that He has been fashioning since before they met on the basketball court in 7th grade AAU ball. Zak's parents are directors of NEAL FCA and once they decided to room together, Charlie had an opportunity to intern with FCA this summer, along with Zak. This internship lit a fire in Charlie that was so contagious. He learned to share, really share, his faith and it is so refreshing. He loved it so much an...
